GREY POETRY-- PART TWO

Fools like me

I was light once,
I could tip toe across
Dewy grass
And not
Leave a mark.
I was slick once,
I could slip across a chlorinated pool
And not ripple.
But there has always been
A serious deformity
On my spirit—
I have always been a fool.

I have always thought that the world could be better,
I have always held
A foolish belief
That I could impress myself upon
The souls of my
Compatriots
And we could sense
And feel
And enjoy
Each other.
I have always thought
That living life
In a flippantly loud way
Would bring the masses
The quiet folk
Out of their shelters
And they would
Not be afraid
To sing
To sing along with me
Light the lighters
Sway to and fro…

I have always ridiculously
Felt
That I could make the world spin together
You know,
It’s funny,
I learned in physics class
That we’re all spinning the same direction
But life taught me
we clearly are not.
Do you want to spin with me?
It’s okay if we get dizzy,
I’m already dizzy,
In the presence of you.

You are wonderful, beautiful, forgiving.

I have always believed in God,
In our creator
And redeemer—
And I think he’s filled me
With this spirit
To reach out for him,
But you run from me,
So maybe I’m foolishly wrong again;
Or maybe,
I’m right…

I want to dance, don’t you?
Dance with me…
Drop that other crap
And just dance with me…
Smile with me.
We don’t even have to speak—
Everyone can just assume we’re fools.
I’ll happily be a fool
With you…

Maybe,
Someday...

THE WORLD WILL DANCE

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
Have you ever felt at one with the world?
The whole world?
It was beating
And you were beating
And it was alive
With you?

The whole world…
Beating with your drum
Even as you danced to theirs
And we all know the world is just
People
Just people,
Lavish and frustratable
But the glory of that moment!
Every knee bowing…
It was perfect
We were singing
To a thunderous tune
We were all singing together
And the lights were there broadcasting their
Fury to the electric company.

And the rains crashed down
And the water set us free
We were dancing
And the storm chasers beyond wanted in
To be one with us
The world.

Have you ever sung a tune with everyone that ever lived?
Have you ever sung
And heard their echoing refrain?
It’s amazing
The thump
And the grump, slump, bump…

Have you ever danced the airwaves
To your friends
Across a pool of
Cascading children?
Turning your tricks…

I used to melt into the envy of my own self
Dancing….
Singing….
With the
Whole
Freaking
World.

It was amazing, wouldn’t you agree?
Let’s do it again.

I danced with the world,
The whole world
ah!  Can you see it?
Can you feel it again?!
We were smushed together
In the wet and rain,
Dancing,
And you said
I didn’t need so much space,
I could share a little
We were all just there,
Trying to dance…
Trying to sing...
Just there, trying to be…
One.

and our creator looked down and
Cried
Great tears
Of joy…
